Velveteen Touch by Marina Zrnic©

When I woke up today
I found so many stars scattered
all over my ceiling
and a ball of hair in my belly.

In the sink salty water is kept,
the Black Sea flooding our small kitchen
and my long forgotten friends' pettiness.

When in bed I cuddle with my old self
lying hand in hand with a small blonde girl.
A velveteen touch.

When I woke up today
I found myself face to face
with all the shades and moods
that hang in the wardrobe.

Being alone is one of many acquired talents.
We relish all those simple moments
when we sit on the floor and count
line by line in front of the mirror.

There are many roads and paths,
but we've already chosen ours.
The velveteen touch.
